Scottish Government Childcare Survey – for parents of 3 and 4 year old children

The Scottish Government has proposed to increase the provision of free childcare to 1140 hours per year for children who are 3 or 4 years old, as well as for vulnerable 2 year olds who are eligible for the 600 hours free entitlement through the Children & Young People’s Act 2014.

With this in mind we are conducting a survey exploring how parents would wish to use this increase. The results of this survey will help guide policy on early years child care provision. In order for the survey to produce representative results it is important that we reach as many parents of 3 or 4 year old children from as wide a variety of back grounds as possible, this includes those who do not currently use free child-care provision.

The survey is available at the following link.

P6’s Grow a Fiver

Well done to all the P6’s (and parents no doubt) who took part in this enterprising Grow a Fiver scheme.  This is held every year and all proceeds go towards the P6’s Loch Insh trip at the start of their P7 term.  The school was buzzing with enthusiasm as they held their stalls all morning at school.  We think there was a lot of happy customers!

P4’s Titanic Open Afternoon

On the 25th of March, Miss MacNay and Mrs Gordon’s P4 class had a special afternoon in their classroom!

Because their topic was the Titanic, they had an open afternoon to show all of their amazing work to their parents who came dressed as if they were passengers on the Titanic!  They made a huge Titanic collage for the wall and each pupil in the class had to research a passenger from the Titanic and make a portrait of the passengers. They also made Titanic cabins out of shoeboxes!

This topic was awesome!  We learned lots of interesting facts and would like to know more.
