We are enjoying being back at Nursery. We have been learning about changes which happen in Winter. We noticed it was very cold and it was a little bit snowy. We are enjoying being outside in Winter but like to wrap up warm in our cosy clothes and jackets. We wear hats, gloves and scarves too. This term we are going to learn more about winter and cold places. We have an igloo in Nursery and are enjoying playing with the polar animals. We have been using lots of different construction materials to make igloos too! We like to use non fiction books to find out more information. We are learning about how things change and how ice “melts.”

Children are busy learning about celebrations this term. They have developed their knowledge of Diwali, Fireworks night and are beginning to learn more about Scotland and Christmas. We worked with P2AM to make some Scottish Christmas decorations and we sent them to schools all over Europe. Have a look at Film Friday for updates about the decorations we have received in return. The children are continuing to enjoy Woody Wednesday and are beginning preparations for our Woodland Market on the 14th December- we hope you can make it! We have been working hard to learn our songs for our show “All around the Christmas Tree.” We hope you will join us on Tuesday 13th at 9.30am for our performance! Please have a look at our floorbooks in Nursery and Film Friday for weekly updates about our learning.

The children have used their knowledge from their trip to the beach to decide what they would like to learn about next… lighthouses! We are going to try and make a light bulb light up! Will we manage? Last week, in the woods, we enjoyed reading the story ‘The lighthouse Keeper’s lunch.’. We made wire like Mr Girling and discovered how to get his lunch from the cliffs to the lighthouse. We made lighthouses too with cups and tape. We also made them using the large polydron. We have been working on recognising and writing our names!

We have had a busy week in Nursery thinking about 2D shapes. We had good fun in the woods making faces and sea animals with natural objects.
We had a fantastic trip on Friday to the beach- stay tuned to “Film Friday” to hear all about it!

We are all loving being back at Nursery. This term we are going to be learning about “under the sea”. We have already been making our own boats outside and discovering how we can make them move.
